Melodrama (Opera) in 2 acts (4 scenes) by Antonio Piazza and adapted by Temistocle Solera - World premiere: 17 November 1839 - Teatro alla Scala (Milan) Various Verdi researchers believe the opera has been lost; in any case, the autograph of the orchestra score has not yet been found. Whether the opera is a reworking of the opera Rocester (Lord Hamilton) can only be established definitively when Verdi's heirs, who are today the proprietors of the Villa Verdi (Sant' Agata) near Busseto, agree to make the extensive archive there available without restriction to musicologists. (see origin history) (Duration without breaks: approx. 2 hours) |
